Use this guide together with Import creatives from Google Sheets.
What Sheets Import is best for
Sheets Import works best for many variations of the same design: rotating images, products, prices, URLs or trackers, in the same layout, size and language. Campaigns where every row needs different fonts, alignment or cropping (for example many languages with different scripts) usually still need manual work.
Set up the Creative Master correctly
Use one Creative Master per size and layout.
The Master's asset slots must contain assets – otherwise they aren't offered for mapping. For additional (optional) slots, adding the slot is enough.
All rows that use the same Master should have the same number of main assets. A 5-card and a 25-card carousel need separate Masters, because empty cells fall back to the Master's own assets.
Anything you don't map comes from the Master.
When mapping, you must map at least Creative Name and Creative Master. Creative Size is optional – if you don't map it, the Master's size is used.
"Creative '…' was not found or hasn't been marked as Master"
Check what the error quotes. If it quotes an image URL instead of a name, the Creative Master field is mapped to the wrong column. Map it to the column that contains the Master's name.
Check the Master toggle in the creative's settings.
Check the exact name – including spaces, word order and capitalisation ("carousel master" ≠ "master carousel"). Copy it from Campaign Manager.
Images don't load or fail validation
The URL must be public. Test it in a private browser window. For Google Drive, set sharing to Anyone with the link.
It must be reachable from outside your network and country. Some brand asset libraries and CDNs block other countries, servers or other websites. If so, upload the images to a public location such as Google Drive.
The URL must point to the file itself, not to a page showing it.
The asset must match the Master's slot spec – dimensions, format and file size.
Finding and connecting your sheet
Find the sheet with the search bar in the file picker – you can't paste a URL.
The Google account you connect must have access to the sheet.
NEXD reads only the first tab of the file and uses the first row as headers. Every row and column in it is processed. If your data is on another tab, move that tab to the first position. You can't use several tabs of one file for different Masters.
Excel files must be converted first (File → Save as Google Sheets).
NEXD doesn't sync changes from the sheet into creatives you've already imported. To apply changes, run the import again. After an import, NEXD writes the generated creative IDs back to your sheet.
Tip: test with 1–2 rows first
Run the import with a copy of the sheet containing one or two rows. Large imports can take a while – don't close the tab.
I don't see Feed Connection
Open your campaign. Feed Connection is in the campaign's section of the left sidebar, next to Creatives, Preview Site, Analytics, DCO Tools and Campaign Settings.
If it isn't there: Sheets Import is available on request. Contact your customer success manager or [email protected].
